McDonald’s Restaurant Announced To Close

The McDonald’s restaurant on Washington Street is closed indefinitely after a fire broke out at the fast-food eatery on Monday night.

In a press release, firefighters say they responded at about 9 p.m. Monday for a report of a fire at the restaurant, at 41 Washington St.

Upon arrival, firefighters said they observed heavy smoke coming from the building. They discovered fire inside the walls of the front entrance. Firefighters opened the outside walls, where they found the blaze reached about halfway up the inside of the wall.
The fire was brought under control by about 9:45 p.m., according to the release, which was distributed by John Guilfoil Public Relations, LLC.

No injuries were reported, as the building was evacuated prior to first responders’ arrival.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Canton Fire Department.

The Norwood and Sharon fire departments responded to the scene to provide mutual aid. The Stoughton Fire Department provided station coverage and assisted in responding to two medical calls that occurred during the fire.

The McDonald’s building was handed over to its owners and will be closed for extensive repairs.
