TJMaxx and Marshalls stores closing across US: Full list here

Brick-and-mortar retailers face a significant challenge due to the rise of online shopping. Retailers like TJ Maxx and Marshalls purchase products in bulk at a discounted price and then sell them at an affordable price. But as the merchandise keeps changing, and orders lead to different items being available in different stores, it becomes nearly impossible for them to create an online marketplace. This makes such retailers rely solely on their physical storefronts, and now, TJ Maxx and Marshalls have announced the closure of several locations across the US.

Already, a TJ Maxx location has closed in St. Paul, Minnesota, and several other closures will follow through early 2024. The company reported to Axios that the 55 workers affected by the closing had been offered positions at other locations in the city.

Stores closing in New York

In the New York City borough of the Brox, Marshalls will close the location at 610 Exterior Street in early January. The chain did not provide additional information on the fate of the store’s 100 employees, only reporting to the state that “the separation of 100 employees will begin on, or around, January 10, 2024.”

However, shoppers can still head to the locations at:

2952 3rd Ave, Bronx , NY 10455
845 White Plains Road, Bronx (Bruckner), NY 10473
1450 East Ave, Bronx, NY 10462

The TJ Maxx location that will shutter its doors can be found in Brooklyn at 503 Fulton Street. The sixty-nine non-union workers who staff the store will also see their jobs terminated in early January, after the rush of the holiday season. The reason for the closure provided is “Economic,” but no further information was provided. The company will lay off the sixty-nine non-union workers that staffed the location.

These locations will remain open:

1630 East 15th St, Brooklyn, NY 11229
410 Gateway Drive, Brooklyn, NY 11239
