After eight years in business, Communal Kitchen in Nyack, known for its small plates, local food, small production wines and handcrafted cocktails, has closed.
Dec. 10 was its last night of service.
Owner Jed Gidaly, who’s been in the hospitality industry for 50 years, said it was time for him to retire and take life a little slower. “I’m looking forward to perhaps teaching, doing a little writing, travel and drinking more wine,” he said.
The annoucement, on the restaurant’s Instagram, also thanked his “cherished customers” and staff and asked everyone to continue to support “Nyack’s small, independent restaurants.”
He also said to look for him dining out on a Friday or Saturday night in the near future, instead of serving.
