Another Beloved Restaurant Announced To Close Its Doors Permanently For Customers

A beloved breakfast staple in Old Colorado City says it’s closing its doors for good.

“I’m so sorry to say Mountain Shadows Restaurant is permanently closed,” began a social media post on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “My heart’s breaking; things just haven’t worked out.”

Known for its gigantic cinnamon rolls, huge pancakes, and other tasty eats, Mountain Shadows Restaurant has been a popular spot in Old Colorado City for years. Customers — who have given it a hearty 4.6-star rating on Google reviews — expressed shock, sadness and dismay at the news.

“I can’t imagine the west side without Mt Shadows!” read one comment on the Facebook post.
The news appeared abrupt, with the previous Facebook post simply wishing people a “happy and safe Thanksgiving” and stating the restaurant would reopen with normal hours on Black Friday.

According to its website, Mountain Shadows Restaurant has been family-owned and operated for more than 30 years, first in Lake George before opening in Old Colorado City.

In 2015, it was featured by Guy Fieri on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.”
