I work as a hairdresser and have a regular client, a wealthy woman named Clara. She’s always elegant, with perfect hair and the
kind of jewelry that makes you think twice before touching it. A few days after one of her visits, Clara called me, her voice trembling.
She said she had lost her favorite diamond earrings and was heartbroken.
“They must have fallen off at the salon,” she cried. Feeling concerned, I searched every corner of my workspace.
When I pushed back the table near my station, there they were — a sparkling pair of earrings! I quickly called Clara to tell her the good news.
She rushed over almost immediately.
When I handed them to her, she gasped and said, “Yes, these are mine!”
But then, her face turned pale. “Wait… I didn’t wear these to the salon that day.” Confused, I asked what she meant. Clara explained that these earrings had been missing for months.
She thought they were gone forever.
That’s when it hit us someone else must have worn them to the salon. Clara’s relief turned to suspicion.
