My husband and I have a weekend routine where we keep our phones on silent until at least 10 a.m. so we can sleep in without
interruptions. One Saturday morning, I was deep asleep when I suddenly heard him getting out of bed and hurriedly putting on shorts and a T-shirt.
Before I could fully wake up, the intercom rang loudly, echoing through the house. Confused and a bit nervous, I asked him, “Who is it?” He paused for a moment before replying, “The police.”
My heart immediately started racing as I sat up, wide awake now. A million thoughts ran through my head, wondering what could have happened.
I followed him to the door, bracing for bad news, when we were greeted by two very calm officers. They explained that our neighbor’s dog had escaped and wandered into our backyard. They had been trying to call us, but since our phones were on silent, they decided to stop by in person.
