An active shooter incident took place Thursday morning at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital near Detroit, beginning around 7:08 a.m.
Reports said the shooting happened in the hospitalβs parking garage, causing immediate panic and leading to a rapid emergency response and lockdown.
Authorities later confirmed that the suspect was a hospital employee who targeted a 25-year-old coworker. The victim was shot twice in the arm. While the motive has not yet been made public, the fact that both individuals worked at the same hospital made the incident especially disturbing.
The injured staff member was quickly taken for treatment and was stabilized by medical teams. Hospital officials said he remains in stable condition and is expected to recover, which brought some relief after the frightening event.
The shooting disrupted normal hospital operations as patients, visitors, and staff were placed under lockdown while police secured the area. The suspect was arrested without further violence, and the investigation is still ongoing. The incident has also raised wider concerns about workplace safety and hospital security.
