Douglas shot to fame in 1976, earning an Academy Award as producer for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, a passio n project inherited from his father, Kirk Douglas. Over the years, he cemented his status by portraying intricate characters, notably winning a Best Actor Oscar for his role as Gordon Gekko in Wall Street. He then went on to star in blockbusters like Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct. More recently, he captivated newer generations as Dr. Hank Pym in the Ant-Man series, including Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. During recent interviews, including one for the 50th anniversary of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and an appearance at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Douglas revealed he hasn’t actively worked since 2022, a decision he made himself.
